Are you looking for a yummy Friday night comfort food dinner?

I felt like having that yesterday, when it was Thursday and posted a photo on Facebook. Then thought why not share my recipe with all of you?!

You can use lamb or pork best to make home made shoarma. I bought 500 grams of cut pork strips. Of course you can get ready made herb and spice mixes or pre-seasoned shoarma but they often contain a lot of additives. I try to avoid additives as much as possible.

To season the pork or lamb strips mix these spices well:
2 tsp cumin
1 tsp tumeric
2 tsp cinnamon
2 tsp black pepper
1 tsp cayenne pepper
2 tsp paprika powder
1 tsp cloves
2 tsp koriander
2 tsp garlic powder
2 tsp ginger powder
1 tsp sea salt

Rub the pork strips in well with the spice mix and let it marinade for a day if you can or at least half a day to let the pork absorb all the flavours.

If you want really home made shoarma you make the pita breads yourself too but I'm a fan of the ready ones and vary with regular or Spelt pita breads.
I heat them up in a table grill but you can use a toaster or oven as well.

You also need garlic sauce, which can me made easily too but I used a ready made sauce without additives. I also got a pack of mixed lettuces.

- Bake the shoarma dry in an frying pan, there is enough fat in the meat so you don't need to add more fat
- Heat the pita breads and then cut them half open
- Put a teaspoon of garlic sauce in the pita bread and fill it half with lettuce
- Fill the pita bread up with the shoarma
- Add a little garlic sauce if you like
